We are very pleased to announce our sponsorship for the 2019 - 2020 season of RoboticMinds, a project of Ated4Kids.

RoboticMinds is a project open to young people aged 9 to 16 years, which invites girls and boys to take on the role of scientists and engineers to address a real problem of the world innovatively.

This year, 3 teams will participate in the First Lego League, a robotics competition in which it is required to design and build (exclusively with Lego pieces) autonomous robots capable of performing several established missions, carrying out and presenting a research project to find innovative solutions to real issues of general interest.

The program is built around thematic challenges to involve children and young people aged 9 to 16 years in research, problem-solving, coding and engineering. The foundation of the program is the FIRST Fundamental Values, which emphasizes teamwork, discovery, and innovation. Students emerge more confident, happier and equipped with the skills they will need, as the workforce continues to evolve.

This year the competition chose the theme CITY SHAPER as its "Season Topic".

Today's cities, in continuous evolution and growth, especially thanks to the centralization of the population towards large urban centers, face great challenges, with many problems to be solved, including those of mobility, accessibility, transport, and even deal with natural disasters.

The project is therefore dedicated to the design of optimized spaces, encouraging in the participants the spirit of "problem-solving", creativity through teamwork that will be essential to achieve the goal.

Already last year, one of the three participating teams ranked 12th globally, out of 106 teams, but the initial participants were more than 40,000. A fantastic result, which brings great pride to our Canton Ticino.

That's why we are proud to participate as a sponsor in the 2019 - 2020 edition, to help our youngsters learn the skills of the future while having fun.

On 11 January 2020 the regional challenges of Ticino took place in Trevano, with as many as 15 teams competing for the right to take part in the Swiss semi-finals. The first of the three places available was won by the Smilebots team, which in 2019 had obtained an excellent placement in the Detroit final, ranking 12th in the world.

As sponsors of the teams, we are very happy with our guys' results. Next round on the 15th of February at the Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz.

The ated4kids team, sponsored by us, won the Swiss Robotics FIRST Lego League Final on Saturday 15 February in Brugg.

The Smilebots then qualified for the European finals, coming close to the World Cup, where last year there were 12. out of almost 40 thousand teams.

Once again this year, the Smilebots qualified for the European finals, but this time they were Swiss overall champions, winning over the other 18 teams. The Smilebots took first place not only in the Robot Game robotics competition, but also in the overall ranking including all the trials (Robot Design, Research Work, Team Building and the main Robot Game competition).

In Europe the final is among 28 out of the 1,000 teams who competed and there are more than 40,000 teams in the world.

The Ticino team has focused on increasing slow mobility, identifying the problem of cycle path safety as the key issue to work on. So the team has designed smart poles to be placed alongside the bike lanes. An idea that should soon become a pilot project thanks to the collaboration with the city of Lugano.

We wish the best of luck for the European finals to our Smilebots guys: Damiano Colombo, Federico Corsale, Giacomo Togni, Matteo Siani, Pibo Botturi and Ruggero Domeniconi led by coach Corrado Corsale.

As sponsors of the teams, we are very happy with our guys' results. Next round on the 6th and 7th of March at the Hochscule Offenburg.

Stay tuned to our social channels and blogs to learn more about the project and follow our champions.
